Het superzachte (imitatie) bont op de sokkel en de plateaus, in combinatie met de effectieve krabpaal van sisal, maakt de Cherry House een krabpaal waar iedere kat blij van wordt. 
Door aan een krabpaal te krabben kan een kat zich van loszittende delen van zijn nagels ontdoen. Door de nagels te scherpen aan een krabpaal houdt een kat zijn nagels scherp. De zijkanten die uitgroeien komen dan los te zitten en worden met de tanden verwijderd waardoor de nagel op lengte blijft met een scherpe punt. 
In de natuur gebruiken katten een boom hiervoor. Met een krabpaal in huis voorkomen katteneigenaars dat de dieren aan meubels, het behang of het tapijt gaan krabben. Speelse katten zullen al snel in de krabpaal klimmen.
